Jordan Klaphake (21) scored three points for Melrose and Justin Middendorf added nine more as the Dutchmen downed Long Prairie-Grey Eagle in the first round of the playoffs.

The number one-seeded and undefeated Melrose Dutchmen began their post season play Thursday, March 9 with a dominating 88-51 win over number eight seed LPGE at Melrose. Melrose had a 34-20 lead at half time and quickly expanded on it the second half. At one point they had a 73-36 lead.   Dillon Haider lead the team with 19 points. He suffered an ankle injury at the end of the first half and did not play in the second half.  He was walking after the game.  Other picked up the pace for the Dutchmen as Brady  Birch scored 13, Francisco Cervantes 11, and Hunter Rieland and Reegan Nelson 10 points. Melrose next plays Saturday at 4:30 against number four ranked Osakis at Collegeville.
