Whitney Austing wasted no time going to the basket when MACA’s Ashley Solvie gave her an opening late in the game.

Lady Dutchmen Basketball

The Lady Dutchmen rallied from a 10-point deficit but fell 51-47 Thursday to MACA. Cassie Klaphake led Melrose with 11 points while Maci Blommel and Makiya Luetmer contributed nine each. Ashley Rademacher had eight points.

 

Prairie Centre Hockey has home playoff game Saturday

The Prairie Centre North Stars (9-15-1) earned the No. 8 seed in Section 6A hockey today.

Dutchmen Basketball

Melrose needed a second half rally to top MACA 56-45 Tuesday. Dillion Haider led Melrose with 22 points. Brady Birch had 12. The team exchanged first half leads, but Melrose did not lead in the second half until almost half way through the second half.

Lady Dutchmen Basketball

The Lady Dutchmen found it tough to win on the road. Despite a 16 point effort by Cassie Klaphake, Melrose Area fell 60-34 to Albany on Tuesday. The Lady Dutchmen also fell 81-34 to Osakis on Monday.

North Star Hockey

Three goals in the second period and two in the third gave Prairie Centre a 5-2 win Monday over Redwood Valley at Sauk Centre. Hunter Fletcher scored twice in the game.

Lady Dutchmen Gymnastics

The Lady Dutchmen gymnasts set a team record of 150.835 and Kayla Austing set school record and tied a West Central Conference record with a 9.9 on vault as Melrose won the WCC meet Saturday. Melrose dominated every routine in the meet. Austing, who won the all-around, also took first on the bars and floor and second on the beam. She, as well as Mady Brinkman, Camryn Brinkman and Greta Klaphake, were named to the all-conference team.

Dutchmen Basketball

Melrose went on strong run late in the first half to take a 27-22 lead a half Friday night it Sauk Centre. It got hot again early in the second half, held and 18-point lead for a while and won 68-53 over Sauk Centre. Melrose is now 21-0 overall and rated third in the state.

SCM Wrestling

SCM downed Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 36-34, but fell to Bemidji 51-15 and to Forest Lake 54-15 Friday night in Bemidji.  Sam Sjogren had two pins in the quadrangular. Jordan Winter finished 3-0 on the night. Nate Loxtercamp, Antonio Ortiz and Luke Glasener also had pins.

A pin by Roberto Raya at :55 seconds of the 195 pound match, and a Technical Fall win by Antonio Ortiz in the 106 match highlight SCM’s 37-26 loss to Paynesville Thursday in Melrose.  SCM won seven of the 14 matches wrestled, but Paynesville recorded five pins.

Cassie Klaphake (11) took a pass from Makiya Luetmer as Melrose effectively used outside shooting to top BOLD Tuesday night.

Lady Dutchmen Basketball

In the first half it was threes and in the second half frees as the Lady Dutchmen downed BOLD 56-48 Tuesday night.  In the first half Makiya Luetmer, 20; Whitney Austing, 12; and Cassie Klaphake combined for five three pointers as Melrose took a 27-17 lead. In the second half the Lady Dutchmen were 16-of-22 from the free throw line. 

Fusion Swimming

The Fusion finished their dual meet season at 8-3 following the 112-72 win over Rocori Tuesday. The  team had six individual first place finishes. It also won  two relay races.

North Stars Hockey

The North Stars win streak ended with a 6-1 loss to Bagley at Long Prairie.  Noah Fletcher scored for the North Stars.

SCM Wrestling

SCM fell 45-22 Tuesday at Albany. SCM had pins from Luke Glasener and Roberto Raya.

Dutchmen Basketball

The Dutchmen ran their record to 19-0 with a 66-34 win over Albany Friday. Dillon Haider, 20 points, Hunter Rieland, 14 points, and Brady Birch, 12 points, led the Dutchmen scoring.

Lady Dutchmen Basketball

An improving Lady Dutchmen basketball team topped ACGC 54-34 in a road game. Makiya Luetmer scored 19 points and Whitney Austing had 16 points.

SC-M wrestling

Antonio Ortiz had three pins as SC-M finished 2-1 in the Fergus Fall Quadrangular Friday.  SC-M topped Fergus Falls 68-10 and Roseau 46-31 after falling 37-30 to Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus.

Lady Dutchmen Gymnastics

The Lady Dutchmen finished their dual meet season with a win 146.875-142.125 win over Perham. Kayla Austing, second in the all-around was the vault and floor routines. Camryn Brinkman took first on the beam.

Dutchmen Basketball

Six Melrose Dutchmen scored in double-figures Thursday in the 92-60 win at ACGC.  Jordan Klaphake led the team with 13 points. Also in double figures were: Brady Birch, Damon Van Beck, Dillon Haider, Justin Middendorf and Reegan Nelson.

Prairie Centre Hockey

Prairie Centre had a two game win streak. The North Stars won 7-4 at Breckridge Thursday night. They have outscored opponents 15-4 in the last two games.
