Melrose High School Sports


Cassie Klaphake (11) took a pass from Makiya Luetmer as Melrose effectively used outside shooting to top BOLD Tuesday night.

Lady Dutchmen Basketball

In the first half it was threes and in the second half frees as the Lady Dutchmen downed BOLD 56-48 Tuesday night.  In the first half Makiya Luetmer, 20; Whitney Austing, 12; and Cassie Klaphake combined for five three pointers as Melrose took a 27-17 lead. In the second half the Lady Dutchmen were 16-of-22 from the free throw line. 

Fusion Swimming

The Fusion finished their dual meet season at 8-3 following the 112-72 win over Rocori Tuesday. The  team had six individual first place finishes. It also won  two relay races.

North Stars Hockey

The North Stars win streak ended with a 6-1 loss to Bagley at Long Prairie.  Noah Fletcher scored for the North Stars.

SCM Wrestling

SCM fell 45-22 Tuesday at Albany. SCM had pins from Luke Glasener and Roberto Raya.

Dutchmen Basketball

The Dutchmen ran their record to 19-0 with a 66-34 win over Albany Friday. Dillon Haider, 20 points, Hunter Rieland, 14 points, and Brady Birch, 12 points, led the Dutchmen scoring.

Lady Dutchmen Basketball

An improving Lady Dutchmen basketball team topped ACGC 54-34 in a road game. Makiya Luetmer scored 19 points and Whitney Austing had 16 points.

SC-M wrestling

Antonio Ortiz had three pins as SC-M finished 2-1 in the Fergus Fall Quadrangular Friday.  SC-M topped Fergus Falls 68-10 and Roseau 46-31 after falling 37-30 to Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus.

Lady Dutchmen Gymnastics

The Lady Dutchmen finished their dual meet season with a win 146.875-142.125 win over Perham. Kayla Austing, second in the all-around was the vault and floor routines. Camryn Brinkman took first on the beam.

Dutchmen Basketball

Six Melrose Dutchmen scored in double-figures Thursday in the 92-60 win at ACGC.  Jordan Klaphake led the team with 13 points. Also in double figures were: Brady Birch, Damon Van Beck, Dillon Haider, Justin Middendorf and Reegan Nelson.

Prairie Centre Hockey

Prairie Centre had a two game win streak. The North Stars won 7-4 at Breckridge Thursday night. They have outscored opponents 15-4 in the last two games.

Melrose Rosettes

The Melrose Rosette dance team finish first in kick and jaz in both the varisyt and jav competition Monday at New London.

Melrose Dutchmen Basketball

A 19-point night by Dillon Haider and Hunter Rieland helped Melrose to an 80-46 win Tuesday.  Brady Birch added 13 more to the Dutchmen’s effort. Melrose led 39-24 at half time.

Prairie Centre North Stars

Five goals by Noah Fletcher paced the North Stars to an 8-4 win Tuesday at Park Rapids. The North Stars were out shot 33-30, but Isaiah DeFoe had 29 saves.

Maci Blommel (21) connected with Makiya Luetmer when Melrose ran its offense against Montevideo. Blommel finished with 12 points and Luetmer with 15 points.

Lady Dutchmen Basketball

Three players finished in double figures as the Lady Dutchmen defeated Montevideo 56-42 Friday night in Melrose. Makiya Luetmer led Melrose with 15 point and Maci Blommel followed with 12 points. Whitney Austing added 11 more to the total. Except for a about a minute in the first half Melrose led the entire game.

Dutchmen Basketball

Melrose pulled out a 48-45 win over Minnewaska Friday at Minnewaska. Dillon Haider and Reegan Nelson both had 16 points and Brady Birch added 10 more. Melrose is still unbeaten and has a 16-0 record.

MSC Fusion Swimming

The Fusion fell 94-92 to Park Rapids at Park Rapids Thursday. The evening began in with the 200 Medley Relay were both schools topped the previous Park Rapids pool record. In the final race of the night MSC finished 1-3. MSC missed taking 1-2 by .15 seconds.
