Luke Glasener earned a major decision helping SCM to its 51-30 win.

Dutchmen Basketball

Melrose had a big night from long range in its 89-71 win over BOLD Tuesday. The Dutchmen had 16 three point baskets. Zac Van Beck scored 20 points hitting four six three point shots. Dillon Haider continued as scoring well and used four three pointers to score 19 points. Damon Van Beck used two long-range shots to scored 10 points. Reegan Nelson worked his way inside and scored 11 points.  Also hitting three point shots were Treaton Keaveny and Hunter Rieland.

SCM Wrestling

Pins by Antonio Ortiz and Austin Millard helped SCM take a 51-30 win over Minnewaska Tuesday. The win came on parents night. SCM did benefit from forfeits.

Melrose High School Sports


Brady Birch showed his wide-receiver skills taking a full-court pass to the basket. Birch scored 15 points in the game against NL-S. Reegan Nelson (13) had ten points.

Dutchmen basketball;

Playing their third game in four days, the Dutchmen had enough offense to defeated New London-Spicer 77-69 Friday at Melrose. Dillon Haider the Melrose in the first half scoring 1e4 of his 22 points. In the second half Brady Birch scored 13 of his 15 points. Reegan Nelson had 10 points from the Melrose. Strong play by the Dutchmen bench help keep NL-S under control  .

Lady Dutchmen basketball

The Lady Dutchmen ran into a buzz-saw falling 67-27 to Sauk Centre on Friday Night. Maci Blommel led Melrose with 10 points.

Thursday Results

Dutchmen Basketball

The Melrose Dutchmen played well offensively winning 82-60 over Benson on Thursday. Melrose was led by Dillon Haider’s 19 points. Damon Van Beck and Hunter Rieland both had 11 in the game. The team hit 14 three pointers with Haider having five of them.

Holly Hellermann kept the lane open for Ashley Rademacher (20), who scored four points in Tuesday night’s game.

Lady Dutchmen Basketball

Minnewaska hot shooting and good defense, combined with some cold shooting by the Lady Dutchmen resulted in a 78-42 loss Tuesday night at Melrose. Maci Blommel had 13 points for Melrose. Gabby Graves followed with nine. Minnewaska had 31 field goals, 12 were three pointers.

Dutchmen Basketball

The Melrose Dutchman moved to 12-0 defeating a tough St. Cloud Cathedral team 56-50.  It is the second time this year Melrose topped the Crusaders at home.  Dillon Haider scored 20 points to lead Melrose. The score was close all game along. Melrose led 24-20. The Dutchmen spread the scoring around with nine-of-the-11 players who came into the game.

Fusion

The Fusion topped both Morris and Perham in swimming tonight. Spencer Van Beck and Isaac Schreiner both won two events.

Melrose Rosettes


The Melrose Rosettes kick team had the style, grace and timing to take first at the Melrose Invite.

The Melrose Rosettes Varsity Kick and Varsity Jazz teams both finished first at the Melrose Invite Monday night. The junior varsity kick team finished first in its division. More on the teams will appear in the Jan. 25 issue of the Beacon.

Assistant coach Jeremy Bersheit watched as Camyrn Brinkman pushed off from the vault and into a second place finish in that routine on Thursday.

Lady Dutchmen Gymnastics

The Melrose Lady Dutchmen gymnasts turned in another solid performance in their 145.65-127.675 win over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville Thursday evening.  Kayla Austing was solid in all routines winning the vault, beam and floor routines to take the all-around title. Mady Brinkman tied a school record with a 9.8 on the vault. More information appears in the Jan. 16 issue of the Melrose Beacon.

Fusion Swimming

A strong showing by the diving corp helped the Fusion to a 100-86 win over Montevideo on Thursday. Sam Heller and Leo Braun finished 1-2 in diving. Others taking first were Dylan Fleischhacker in the 200IM, Kenny Warzecha in the 50FS, Isaac Schreiner in the 100FS and Spencer Van Beck in the 500FS. Fleischhacker’s 200IM time of 1:05.84 was his best ever.

Lady Dutchmen Basketball

Melrose Area fell 59-51 at Morris on Thursday.
