Good backcourt play by Taryn Van Heel (1), Abby Hinnenkamp (3) and Mashaye Tschida (5) kept the ball alive for Melrose as it upset Pierz in the playoffs.

It was another upset playoff victory for the Lady Dutchmen Tuesday in Pierz. Melrose topped second seed Pierz 3-2, in a well played contest. The Lady Dutchmen played a good all-around game getting key plays from almost everyone who got on the floor.  They needed that kind of play as Pierz played just as well. Scores of the games were: Pierz-29 Melrose-27, Melrose-25 Pierz-18, Pierz-25, Melrose-19, Melrose-25 Pierz-18, Melrose-16 Pierz-14.  More information appears in the Nov. 9 issue of the Melrose Beacon.
